Life on the (Server) Farm
Clustering our six Windows 2003 Enterprise Servers is finally coming along. Several of our senior network engineers helped me with the network architecture and design, and one is now helping me with the domain administration and clustering.

All of the racks are locked, as is the server room itself. The first rack contains all of our IBM eServer 365s, each with dual Xeon 2.4GHz processors and 4GB of RAM. The web application servers each have 200GB hard drives, while the Oracle database servers are 400GB RAID-5. When clustered, it makes for an incredible 24/7/365 website with load balancing and failover.

This morning wasn't nearly so interesting. Along one wall, we have four test machines and one public PC. The four test machines are all running Windows XP with different OSes and web browsers under four virtual machines (running VMware 4.5.1) so that we can perform browser and OS compatibility testing.

...fun stuff! :)
