Victoria's Secret is a cold place? Mon 09.20.04 9:01am PDT #10437 |
(trying again, hopefully with pics) Victoria's secret... Cold... So very c-c-c-cold. You really do find the strangest things in the office fridge. :P --- Ken Foreman foremank@developer.danger.com http://foremank.mystarband.net/ |

A quiet Monday morning... Mon 09.20.04 6:05am PDT #10433 |
After a weekend of some great dim sum, and seeing Jet Li in the masterfully-done Ying xiong ("Hero"), it's hard to be back at the office and staring at code. Anyhoo... here's my gear: a Sony Clie UX50, my 15" Apple PowerBook G4/1.5, a Motorola V600 (reflected in the Clie camera pic) and my 40GB ipod. I couldn't make it through the day without these. Now if I could only talk Vicky into dumping her Windows XP desktop for the new iMac G5... |
Sorry I missed Havoc... Mon 09.20.04 5:14am PDT #10432 |
Good morning... Watching skHolla this weekend made me reminisce over my Sidekick and wonder about the Sidekick2. Havoc looked like a blast from the pics I saw from s4xton, kale, div, and G7. It looks like y'all had a great time! (sorry to see kale ran out of gas on the return trip). |
Mark's Duck House Sun 09.19.04 8:13am PDT #10412 |
Yesterday, Vicky and I went with her family to Mark's Duck House in Annandale, VA, for some great dim sum. My favorites there are the fried soft-shell crab with tempura, and the calimari. I'll never turn down steamed buns or fried shrimp either, though. The pics are of Vicky and I, Vicky with her nieces, her sister and brother-in-law, and her parents. |
Weathering Ivan... Sat 09.18.04 6:44am PDT #10377 |
It poured throughout the night, with some beautiful (and very close) flashes of lightening. The ground is now sopping wet, and I wouldn't recommend stepping on the grass unless you want to sink into mud. Vicky and I first watched the Cantonese "A Chinese Ghost Story 1: Special Edition" and then anime version of "Metropolis". Having UPSes on all the A/V hardware and the HDTV video projector allowed us to keep watching despite the flickering power. While Starband has been alot better since getting the ground-level pole mount and spending some serious time getting it re-peaked, it still couldn't compete with the wind and the heavy rain. It lost signal around 10pm last night and came back around 3am. Vicky and I were glad that we have Cingular wireless internet on our Sony Clies and on the Powerbook. She was able to check her email and make some additions to the Netflix queue. I checked my mail and surfed the Internet Movie Database (IMDB). Not a bad way to spend a tropical depression... |
Continuing location-aware PAN efforts... Thu 09.16.04 12:58pm PDT #10340 |
While I posted the how to configure the Apple Powerbook, Sony Clie, and Motorola V600 to share internet, I noticed Monsters of the ID also published a good how-to. I now have Cingular providing a reliable 24/7 internet connection to the Sony Clie PEG-UX50 and PowerBook via the Motorola V600. I set up HandMap and Mapopolis to use the realtime feed from the Pharos bluetooth GPS. I'm now in the midst of writing a Palm version of terrabrowser client in my spare time to get satellite maps based on the lat/long, all in realtime via the 'net. |
