People to think about Fri 03.21.03 3:33pm PST #3732 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Malfunctioning hiptop has finally been replaced so am back...And while this is not the kind of post I wanted to be tapping out, I will do this just once and that will be it. I've managed to avoid turning on the TV this week but of course "news" manages to get to me over the internet whether I want it or not. And while I'm sure most of the protesters in our cities mean well, I can't help but think that there are two groups we should be thinking about right now. 1. The children of the many who will no doubt die in this war. They are the ones who will suffer most and whose bitterness will haunt us later. If you really are concerned, please don't try to shut down our nation's businesses...put your concern where it will have a tangible effect and find ways to support humanitarian efforts financially (yes where it hits you most) or through other means. (Puking and knitting for peace in public isn't going to help the people who need it no matter how much better it will make you feel) 2. People who are on the fence. Alienating them will only push them into the camp that will put people in office in future elections you will later regret. And the disruption you're causing will only make those who already support this war even firmer in their convictions. Please think beyond the present and your need to express yourself. Think about the future and the fact that 2/3 of Americans support this war. How do you reach them? Not by blocking traffic...just ask...that will only make them want to run you down. So what then do you accomplish? --may-- |
Two thumbing Fri 03.07.03 9:08pm PST #3483 |
Sitting on the bus now on my way to see a Bollywood flick at the Castro...I'm noticing that the woman sitting across from me is two-thumbing an old nokia cell phone - one of those big freebie phones from years ago. I think this is the first time I've noticed someone sending a text msg on the bus instead of just calling...we're such vocal people here in the US! (oh and this doll head has nothing to do with anything...just one of the last pics left on my hiptop before the camera jack died last week...so you might be seeing lots of her until I get it replaced) --may-- |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dav - oh heavens no, I haven't read his book. I went to hear him speak because I figured I wouldn't get to it in this lifetime...though after listening to him last night, I'm extremely curious and may have to pick it up after all...though I'm more interested in the pretty patterns than the meaning of the universe :) And next time you head down to PARC let me know! Mike - a Saturn just for you :) --may-- -----Original Attachments Unavailable----- |
