| Mom's on Food Network Thu 09.14.06 3:10pm PDT #19261 |
Sampled their wares for the first time last week and when I returned today for a second helping, found out Mom's Apple Pie Bakery is going to be on Road Tasted next week on the Food Network. I don't know how it's going to be, since I rely on Jane and Michael Stern normally for this sort of review, but no matter how the show is, I'm still elated to see a small local chain highlighted on television. |

| Five Guys, a Girl and a Burger Place Wed 09.13.06 11:34am PDT #19254 |
One of the best developments since I've been gone is that Five Guys have sprung up all over. I was tagging them all with the Garmin to start with, but there are three within 5 miles of my place, so it's beginning to look like my HEB landmark moment (when I moved to San Antonio, I thought I'd remember where I lived because it was right near the HEB -- I didn't realize there are 7 billion HEBs in San Antonio, and it might not make the best landmark). In other news, go Jake! |
| Sasquatch Sketch-Honobia Freedom Tour Wed 09.13.06 10:11am PDT #19253 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Working up sketches for the fall Honobia Freedom Tour. Last one featured a Sasquatch with a keg in that "classic" Sasquatch pose in mid stride. This time around we got Yetti back at camp with all his little "friends" for a camp site party. Included will be a skeleton of "Jim" from Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom up in a net, his skull being used as a bottle opener, and a more relaxed Smokey the bear tokin' on a.... smoke while he tosses away the match he just lit up with and of course various other critters getting their drink on. What I am trying to figure out is how to incorporate a less than responsible Woodsy Owl. Haven't quite figured out how to place him in the drawing, but I think it would pretty fun to have hime as care free as ol' Smokey. -Matt |
