Here are some pix from last Thursday morning at The National Press Club where consultancy Forum One was hosting several speakers on the topic of Mission-Driven User Experience: Engaging the Five Percent that Matter. Two of my team and I were there to cheer on someone from another business unit in our company who was speaking. The talks were all great. Audience was lots of grey suits and ties. It *is* D.C.

I received the shock of my life when I was getting ready for work today. I got a call from my wife's hospital (Mt. Sinai in NYC, she's a nurse). It was her boss telling me not to panic, but that they had just admitted her to the ER. She followed with

"Your wife doesn't want to be alone, and wants you to please come down as soon as possible..." "WHAT? WHAT HAPPENED? IS SHE STABLE?" "I know you're scared, so please try not to panic. She really wants to see you." "I'm on my way..." Don't panic?!?!? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME???? I flew down into Manhattan with her father (hell, we both skipped work). I ran into the ER, and saw my wife crumpled up on a bed in the corner. And that's when I broke... Long story short: Her body crashed on her. Massive anxiety attack brought on by hypertension and malnutrition. She almost blacked out, her BP was high, and she complained of pain in her left arm and tingling in her lips. Rest, hydration, and better diet to compensate for the fact that she's still breastfeeding are what the doctor ordered. Just another reminder that we need to take better care of ourselves, because someone is still depending on us...

Anyone that's going to be in the Austin area next Sunday should come out to the Bagelfest 5k. A 5k is only 3.1 miles so it's really not too bad if your in reasonable shape. It's about a 30 minute run at a slow pace. No big deal. Plus you can walk as much of it as you want.

I'll be there listening to my SK3 and taking pictures as we run. :) It'll be our first 5k of the season. To get you inspired I attached a few pics from the Sausagefest 5k last year.

Went to the optometrist today, I've been having a lot of difficulty seeing upcoming road signs and such. Haven't gotten a new perscription in over 5 years, much less utilized my glasses!

Got a (singular!) contact! My left eye is now great :D I go back in a week to finalize my perscription, and perhaps buy some new glasses

We're on the way to San Antonio and we passed this truck. I knew this was how live chickens were transported but I hadn't ever seen it in person. Kinda weird seing several hundred chickens packed in so tight. It kinda made me hungry...
