I edited some of Saturday's photoshoot with Trixie and Monkey, and posted some to Flickr. I thought the photos came out great.

We were on location with Nikki V doing make-up and hair at the second floor lounge of Waterfront Hotel Bar in Fells Point, Baltimore. The theme was old money, preppy, fox hunt.

It was a treat to see the two (and Nikki of course) because they've been away for a while at circus school. Sadly for us, they've decided to stay on at the school until June 2008. But happy for them. They'll be back to Baltimore periodically to do shows and have started a blog so their fans can track their progress.

The two hurried off at 5pm to drive to a gig in NYC that evening. Nikki and I went to dinner to catch up on life.

We came across a family rocket launch at the school.

So I went and bought a blue LX for the wife, finally corrupting her totally.... Even last night I caught her with the lit device in her hands ("just checking Ebay"). Since they were out of the brown, I ordered from T-Mumble... Even got free express service ftw.... then the brown shows up the NEXT day. Wife falls in love, and I am now the proud owner of a blue SKLX.


Initial thoughts: Missed the rubberish keys of the SKDeuce (still my favorite SK of all), so these were a welcome surprise. These screen blows my mind, period. Such an improvement, only at the cost of my eyeballs drying out twice as fast... The MP3 player stepped up it's game in terms of quality and level of sound. I can't really listen to it at full volume 'cause it's painful. The jack improvement allows for greater versatility of headgear. Feels way more fragile than even the SK3, lighter but surprisingly resilient. Camera is the same, but looks even crappier because of the high-def screen... MMS enabled means nothing much to me, maybe it will one day. Definitely feels like a "mature" device, flawless enough with it's UI that it makes you wonder if they could have tried for better, instead of tweaking and refining as much. Sexy as hell, couldn't concieve of going back to the SK3 unless this device blew up in my hand.

Not really. But Paola whisked Mariela, Katie and I off to her school (Otis), to pinkberry and then a movie. Though I've never rolled my eyes harder than I did during August Rush. Good end to the holiday weekend, dreading Monday :(
