I'm walking around the Lewiston/Auburn area of Maine. They used to be big milltowns. Due in part to a recent wave of immigrants from Somalia, they have been experiencing a bit of economic revival. There is a lot of amazing architecture to be found.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. I had everything a good summer birthday should have: sunshine, a poolside BBQ, plenty of rum, and friends and family to share it with. Oh yes, and blueberry pie.

Such a nice day today, decided to set up camp at Lake Sebago. Lake temperature: 51 ° F. Lots of fun so far :)

bike commute is go

this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayGot the bike tuned up and it finally stopped raining, so today was the first bike commute to work. 6 miles each way, and the way in took me about 25 minutes. Not terribly fast, but there are a fair amount of cars and traffic lights to deal with. I'll be hooking up a bike computer soon so I'll be able to track speed, etc.

The bike is a 21-speed Marin Larkspur hybrid, which I purchased in 1998 the day after I moved to California. I used it extensively there, and hopefully it will serve me as well here.
