After seeing a photo gallery on Wired, I ordered and today received a copy of the massive, immersive book The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film: Based on the Lost Interviews from the Official Lucasfilm Archives. This is part of the full-scale assault of 30th anniversary merchandising including, re-release of the movie in 3D, action figures, LEGO kits, comics, Topps cards, mailboxes, DVDs and more. The difference for me between now and 30 years ago is that I can afford to buy this stuff if I want.
