Sorry w00dz, I should have remembered about these when you went shopping! Nice shotgun pack with GP 3300's in it, which are darn good quality batteries. Best part is the price, which is $24.99.

I need a six cell pack to be race-legal, so these will do the trick nicely.

"AJAX, SaaS, SOA, RIA, Ruby, mash-up, TNNI, tagging, wiki, long tail, viral, meta-communities..."

It's raining buzzwords here at the Ritz Carlton Hotel...

I'm at the New New Internet Conference in Tyson's Corner, VA today with our company CIO and some other techy co-workers.

The morning was a bit thick on company marketing plugs, but Dion Hinchcliffe's panel discussion is pretty good.

Here are some talking points from one of the presenters.

Rajen Sheth, Product Manager, Google Enterprise:

What does Web 2.0 mean for business? - Simplicity for the end user - Simplicity for the developer - Eliminate barriers to information - Power of the cloud

Key lessons about Web 2.0 for business - Employees and consmers are one in the same - Always keep it simple for the average user - The simplest most useful standard wins in the end - Information quality= Great search X More information - Hosted services let you focus on your business rather than your infrastructure

Rajen did have a funny story about the first usability test of Google. Some users paused for a long time when presented with the Google search page of 1997. It turns out they thought all the white space was from the page loading. So the designers added a copyright line in the footer.

You tell it vaguely what you're cooking. It senses the moisture and figures what power levels and cook times to use and does its thing. Popcorn will be the real test.

But it'll have to wait a few days. We leave for Mississippi in the morning. I think when Mom gets back, I'll let her do the honors.

Went to Gameworks for a release party today. Spent most of the time playing pinball, but found the DDR machine. It was apparently out of order. Hopefully it's because they're waiting to install the flamethrowers. :)
