In other personal news....I had a difficult time sleeping last night because I want my job position description profile for reclassification to "shine". I have a very rough draft so far. I'm putting myself under HR's microscope because of additional duties taken on in my job since the timing is right for consideration according to my boss & IT HR representative. I'm not necessarily looking for an increase in $$$ -- although it would be :). I'm looking more towards less interaction with business unit clients and more interaction with the other infrastructure and application development subject matter experts and technologies.

Paul Allen, the entrepreneur and co-founder of software maker Microsoft Corp. is looking to sell his technology-related cable channel TechTV, the Wall Street Journal reported .... TechTV, owned by Allen's investment firm Vulcan Ventures Inc. is worth between $250 million and $300 million, ..... A TechTV representative was not immediately available to comment to Reuters.

Cable channel operator Viacom Inc., and Sony Corp .... have been approached to buy TechTV .... were not immediately available to speak with Reuters....The newspaper said a spokeswoman for TechTV declined to comment on the possibility of the channel being sold outright, and said a spokesman for Vulcan also declined to comment.

A lot of phone calls, IMs type of stuff today. I got my mid-year performance appraisal yesterday which was :)) -- no mid-year $$ usually comes out of these reviews except for employees who are below the median, but it's been a good indicator of my year-end PPA, most of the time. My work 'tude has improved since I'm doing more than the day-to-day stuff now....certainly makes the day go quicker. My group has been lax in R6 Testing and desktop engineering is so busy with other stuff, they don't have time for us ;(. My boss is lighting a fire under our behinds by scheduling weekly meetings for the next six months. I took an informal poll and some of *us* need guidance/direction.

Well, hopefully the rest of this week will be just as cool, plus the cafe will be having one of my fave dishes manana -- "MONGOLIAN FIRE POT" -- Choice of Chicken Or Beef Singapore or Peanut Sauce -- Over Yakisoba Noodles or Steamed Rice for $5.25. It's been a while since I've had that dish because they usually serve it on Thursdays, but I've been getting to the cafe too, late and end up eating their fattening soup instead. Today, I experimented and had spinach, egg, yellow and green pepers with bleu cheese dressing, it was quite yummy but it still didn't compare to my Trader Joe's spinach, cranberry, gorgonzola, fennel seed(?) salad.

nikhoi has "issues" with today being Friday instead of Monday, and djnyce has "issues" with being at work with to do but net surfing.

I'm throwing my .02 in that today was a fine day. Maybe I feel "UP" because I just came back from vacation, maybe it's because my phone ringing and SameTime IM is usually non-stop, but today it wasn't, maybe it's because I'm going to be the designated "volunteer" for my work group area for a wireless enterprise project. Our AOR will be set- up/support of Domino Everyplace 6.0 for Notes/Domino collaborative capabilities to small, Web-enabled devices including cell phones, pagers and PDAs. I plan on seeing this project as a "breath of fresh air".

This week is my turn for oncall rotation (hopefully no paging-- especially during the wee a.m. hours), my 9-year wedding anniversary and 20-year high school reunion are also this week...need to come up with ideas to celebrate....

but good to be back home. I'm playing catch up on for missed episodes of TechTV while I was on vacation. It must be about 95 degrees. We got home last night and it was still 90 degrees inside. We may go to movies tonight to cool off and catch Freaky Friday.

I've been drinking Barq's Red Creme soda non-stop today. That's the same company that makes the sweet tasting, creamy root beer. Just waiting for the next holiday before school starts ... Labor Day. Oh, I almost forgot that I have jury duty on 9/11 - National Day of Rememberance. I've received jury notices every year for the past few years, and have never been interviewed to be on a jury.

Read about the power outages on the east coast. Sounds like it's a real zoo in that part of the U.S. It'll be interesting to see what the root cause of the oytage is -- human error, hardware malfunction or ? We went to an amusement park on Monday and to Taylor Creek Visitor Center on Tuesday. The pictures from both outings are in my AOL Journal because of the number of pictures and the detail about the outings.

We might head out to the casino tonight. Tomorrow will be breakfast at Heidi's Pancake House, trip to beach, souvenir shoppng and more sightseeing....and maybe another trip to Freshie's :)
