Still waiting around
Scoped out the eats in the court cafe & nothing seemed appetizing. One of the juror assignment groups was allready dismissed because the parties settled. We are still waiting around for voir dire -- where the attorrneys ask potential panelists questions and make juror selection by process of elimination.

Watched a 20 min video on the jury process. Reminds me of my days as a legal secretary years ago. I've always worked in product liability or defense type firms when I was still in that occupation. Ever since I became registered voter I've received a jurt notice but have always been excused. This is the closest ilve come to the voir dire process.

I think my employer will pay up to 10 days for jury duty. ,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:

Jury Duty
Off work today for civic duty @ Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court. I have no phone signal but do have a full 'G'. I have the local paper which doesn't have very much content and my SK to keep me distracted. There's about 200 people in the jury assembly area.

Too bad the bldg area doen't have WiFi. ,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:

Hanging out with JigNeNe @ local park. Slight breeze with a comfy coolness. My Gameboy SP is keeping me occupied. I find that I'm a much better player @ Tetris on the Nintendo console than on the SP. ,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:+*`*,.;:+*`*+:;.,,.;:

Football Team Lost

As promised I made it towards the last hour of the football game where my daughter is a freshman and SaxyHC is the marching band/orchestra/concert band teacher. He's the only music teacher @ the school and has been asking for an asst. teacher for the longest time. When he first started teaching, there were 17 in marching band now there are 120. DramaKween is in the band and plays the flute that SaxyHC got her for Christmas 3 years ago. She said she knows the band music but kept making mistakes while playing. I told her that part of it is that she doesn't practice at home. Can you imagine being in high school where your Dad is your teacher and every other teacher/school administrative type person knows who you are ;0-- yeah, the "village would have its eyes on you" ;) DramaKween's only complaint about being in marching band is that SaxyHC is gone a lot because of band competitions and reheasals. I told her I already understand what that's going be like for her.

The home football team lost by 20 points. DramaKween's best friend from her old school and her Mom showed up to see her perform and for her to sleep overnight for a fun festival that the Mom's job is sponsoring. DramaKween has gone with them for the past few years and always has a great time. So it's just me, SaxyHC & JigNeNe who are goig to a local park to just chill for a change.

I think the home football team lost by 20 points.

09/11 Day Of Remembrance
In all the hoopla about the Hiptop OS 1.1 pending upgrade, etc. I this is also National Remembrance Day --

We never know when we, too, will be called into eternity. I doubt if even one of those people who got on those planes, or walked into the World Trade Center or the Pentagon that morning thought it would be the last day of their lives.

Today marks the second anniversary of September 11. Once again, we encourage you to take a moment to remember a very tragic time in our history.

This is a day of reflection to honor those who lost their lives, including those in our family who were most deeply affected.

We want to pay tribute to the heroism of the emergency responders, as well as the kindness and generosity of millions of Americans who helped so many others.

Let us also commemorate the many blessings we enjoy: our families, our communities and our freedoms.

It's On It's Way....
The latest news....Hiptop OS 1.1 for the masses. The Danger wearable thread posts evolved from bashing, to appearances by Rubin, developers and the like and an "official" Sneak Preview of the upcoming goodies. This news is on the heels of rumored availability of the Treo 600 (branded by Orange in U.K.) next week.

Happy Birthday To You, G O O G L E :)
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any way....The query result below is an example of why *I* think G O O G L E is one of the coolest things to come along. Ask Jeeves used to be my web search engine of choice.

Information courtesy of by what else, but G O O G L E ... and to think G O O G L Eis just a kindergartner ;) TechTV had a feature on the person (I forgot his name) who does the graphics for the main logo for G O O G L E in his "spare time".

Who does own the publishing rights to "Happy Birthday to You"? They were acquired by a New York accountant named John F. Sengstack when he bought the Clayton F. Summy Company in the 1930s; Sengstack eventually relocated the company to New Jersey and renamed it Birch Tree Ltd. in the 1970s. Warner Chappell (a Warner Communications division), the largest music publisher in the world, purchased Birch Tree Ltd. in late 1998 for a reported sale price of $25 million; the company then became Summy-Birchard Music, now a part of the giant AOL Time Warner media conglomerate. According to David Sengstack, president of Summy-Birchard, "Happy Birthday to You" brings in about $2 million in royalties annually, with the proceeds split between Summy-Birchard and the Hill Foundation. (Both Hill sisters died unmarried and childless, so the Hill Foundation's share of the royalties have presumably been going to charity or to nephew Archibald Hill ever since Patty Hill passed away in 1946.)

It's The Weekend
The week went by faster because of 3 day weekend. IBM vendor was @ our site yesterdy for WEA install on our lab server. Working with co-worker in another workgroup on this project & and mentioned all the pangs my group went through to get SametTime on DMZ and DNS issues w\server hardware refresh. And what do you know, we experienced the same issues w/WEA install today...unable to resolve DNS, etc. The vendor took off later in the day and is ASSUMING that he's not coming back until 09/15 to finish the setup. Our project manager is not a happy camper as our pilot roll out is on 09/15 to field testers.

I spent so much time school shopping last weekend, I want to veg out this weekend. DramaKween is adjusting to freshman world. I haven't heard from JigNeNe as it may be too soon. I do want to catch that Jackie Chan flick, The Medallion though. I still haven't had my TGIFriday's fix that I've been wanting since last week of onion rings, so I might try this weekend.
