| X-13D Doritos Fri 05.11.07 1:33pm PDT #20980 |
So this morning I am diddle bopping through the "dirt" Quick Trip and what do I spot dangling on the chip rack like that animal thing on the planet Endor that Chewbacca grabbed, ensanaring the whole wacky Star Wars gang (droids included), but this black beauty- Doritos X-13D. Pure marketing GENIUS.At first sniff, it reminded me of something familiar, not chip like, but definitely something I have smelled before. At this point sirens should be going off, and a giant Robby The Robot should be busting out of the closet shouting WARNING! DANGER! Instead, I reach for a chip and take another smell.... hmmmm cocktail sauce maybe? NO! Maybe mustard.... with the mystery maize snack in hand, I quickly pop one into my mouth, a taste sensation pours over my unsuspecting, and now angered taste buds. WTF?? Do you remember as a kid mixing up concoctions that seemed like a good idea, but wound up not so much a good idea? Well it seems the fine folks over at the Doritos factory are all out of ideas and are now resorting to mixing things that...well really shouldn't be, at least in the chip field. Having eaten fours chips, I have decided that they were going for mustard Cheeseburger. Not something you would expect or want in a new chip flavor. If I recall correctly, Doritos is owned by the Pepsi Corporation or in some way in league with them, and as Pepsi has demonstrated before, they can pull that loose change from your pocket with little or no effort at all.... Well mine at least. So once again, pure marketing genius. I really need to get me a Robby the Robot.... -Matt |
