While I never lost my satellite internet connection despite six hours of heavy snow followed by hours of freezing drizzle, I did watch the signal strength drop from 8.2 to 6.7, and packet loss reach 30% with 1.267sec ping times.

On the signal meter, you can see the spike where the slough of snow slide off the dish. Since mounting the dish on a ground pole mount, and changing all of the cabling and connections, I've very rarely lost connection. The satellite modem, firewall/proxy server (WinXP), and ultrasparc (Solaris) and router all backed up by a 1500vac UPS.
