After the wedding, Britni and I went down the road to the university responsible for bringing us together, Denison University in Granville, OH. It's been 3 years since I graduated and so much has changed. My senior year brought on an influx of construction after several huge donations from rich alumni. With the addition of two new ginourmous buildings, a 4 level underground parking garage, a new "Campus Commons" area, and several new roads and dorms, the school has definitely started moving away from the "small school" atmosphere. Security looks all official, the parking garage even has those little barricades that everyone likes to crash through in the movies, and the new buildings are all very modern looking. Pictures are (if they're in the right order): (1) Granville sign, (2) Denison Sign, (3) New Building #1 (I forget the names), (4) New Building #2, (5+6) The lions (Esse and 'E') outside one of my old dorms, the SAE house. Many a late night was spent smoking with these guys, and we were responsible for getting the ashtray that is still out there to this day. (7) The "Office", aka a small bathroom randomly placed by the front door with a window that looked out on the quad. (sorry about the darkness) (8+9) The new Campus Commons area that used to be woods. I'm sure it will be the site of much frisbee throwing. (10) Fellows Hall, home to Denison University Computing Services, and the place I spent a lot of time either working or just hanging out with friends while they worked. (11) One of my bosses while I worked there. We stopped by and chatted with a lot of the people that are still working there. (12) The crazy wall that I saw several times a day as I climbed the stairs to the Computer Science Floor in Olin hall. Who knows how many times I saw this. I think it may have scrambled my brain more than writing code for days on end. (13+14) The front of Olin Science Hall, where at least half of my college life was spent. (15) The Doobie - the door to the campus radio station which I am "officially" no longer part of after our senior prank, but I'm sure all the rest of the DJs disagree with that ruling. Late night radio shows were spent here with friends. (16) The new parking garage which seems so foreign and out of place to me. (17+18) Prospect House - one of a few "off-campus" houses that I won in the senior housing lottery. We hosted many a good party in this house, and somehow managed not to burn it down. (19) The entrance to Denison with the misleading "Christian College" bit. Other than the changes on campus, Granville the town still looks basically the same. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to make it out to the Homestead to see how things are out there. It was still nice to drive around and have memories triggered, it just wasn't the same without all the familiar faces around though... |
