I received the shock of my life when I was getting ready for work today. I got a call from my wife's hospital (Mt. Sinai in NYC, she's a nurse). It was her boss telling me not to panic, but that they had just admitted her to the ER. She followed with

"Your wife doesn't want to be alone, and wants you to please come down as soon as possible..." "WHAT? WHAT HAPPENED? IS SHE STABLE?" "I know you're scared, so please try not to panic. She really wants to see you." "I'm on my way..." Don't panic?!?!? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME???? I flew down into Manhattan with her father (hell, we both skipped work). I ran into the ER, and saw my wife crumpled up on a bed in the corner. And that's when I broke... Long story short: Her body crashed on her. Massive anxiety attack brought on by hypertension and malnutrition. She almost blacked out, her BP was high, and she complained of pain in her left arm and tingling in her lips. Rest, hydration, and better diet to compensate for the fact that she's still breastfeeding are what the doctor ordered. Just another reminder that we need to take better care of ourselves, because someone is still depending on us...
