After months of procrastination and budget limitations, I finally got a new exhaust / muffler installed, which in turn allowed me to pass inspection. The noise level has been dramatically reduced so now I don't have to worry about it when I get pulled over by the cops.

I just have to bring all my receipts, proof of current inspection, and my emissions report to court on the 21st to make my ticket go away.
