Morning Trip To Doc Thu 04.06.06 5:51am PDT #17677 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cianna, who is running on 1/3 less sleep than normal per doc's instructions to prepare for mild anesthesia, was ready for this morning's road trip to have her electrodes attached. We had episodes of crankiness, but hopefully she'll get a decent nap later today. As we were getting in the car, Geoff arrived to do some exterior house painting. Cianna called him "Santa!" and gave him a hug. I was thinking, yeah, even Santa has put off retirement to earn extra money in the off season doing home maintenance. - mike lee - wheaton, md |
Bits From The Last Week Tue 04.04.06 8:06pm PDT #17665 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1) Randy Covington of Newsplex came to our offices last week to speak to a group of us on global trends in converged newsrooms. 2) I placed my pre-order for the LEGO Mindstorms NXT. Here's some brain food that arrived recently: 3) Leaves start to emerge on the trees in front of the building where I work 4) Go! Sudoku for the Sony PSP and In Search of Memory: The Emergence of a New Science of Mind by Nobel winner Eric Kandel 5) The Week magazine, probably the best (and slimmest) little news magazine around and Dwell with a cover story on interior designs of homes under 1,700 sq. ft. 6) Burlesque and the Art of the Teese by Dita Von Teese. Simply breathtaking model, wardrobe, styling and photography. And Field Notes from a Catastrophe, by New Yorker reporter Elizabeth Kolbert on climate change. Cianna update: her medication has helped a lot, but hasn't eliminated the seizures. So this week we start experimenting with another drug. She also has to undergo an ambulatory EEG for 24 hours this Thursday and Friday. She'll have electrodes glued to her head the whole time feeding data to a portable computer strapped to her waist. I'm taking off work as I have to watch her the whole time to manually log the seizures. Look for some fun photos of all that... - mike lee - wheaton, md |

If you can buy the Phlash on sale for under $20, I say it's worth it. But not at $29.95 list. - mike lee - wheaton, md |
Leaving The Cape Tue 03.28.06 10:32am PST #17601 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We took a last walk on Old Silver Beach after checking out of the Sea Crest. It's about 50 degrees and breezy out. 3) We ran into Paula and Jonathan who did the all videotaping of the talks. 4) Laura and Dennis 5-7) Stopping at the American Lobster Mart by the Bourne Bridge at the entrance to the Cape for a yummy lobster roll. - mike lee |
