There are dozens upon dozens of swallows flying like crazy over the river outside my office. Occassionally they stop to rest on my ledge. They have been swarming around all morning. You can just about make out the tiny bird in the tiny pics above.

Thanks to the generousity of a fellow hiptop user, I now have a functioning camera again!
Down East
Surprisingly strong signal from Ellsworth, ME. Having any signal from here is surprising actually. So far haven't gotten a signal in Acadia National Park, but will try again from atop Cadillac Mountain.

Just as I was going to do a bunch of experiments with the camera and mike lee's tracing technique, my camera breaks. The photos above are the half dozen unpublished pics that were left in my gallery.

I carry the camera on the keychain adapter and since last summer it has survived bouncing around in my pocket, rain, the beach, being tossed around, numerous drops, being packed into luggage, being played with by children, airplane trips, etc. So how did it break? A short fall onto some rocky ground. I guess it just landed at an unlucky angle.

So, no new pics from me until...well for a while at least :)

Thanks to the old camera for all its service over the months!

This vending machine is 100% mechanical - no electricty needed. On the plus side, due to its design, everything is 50¢ - two quarters only. On the minus side, sometimes stuff gets stuck in the back.

The last shot is the hard-to-line-up self portrait in vending machine glass reflection photo.

sunny side up
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayOn your left you see the Mousam River with a lot of sunlight reflecting off of it, thus making it a pretty lousy picture. But I promise it looked fantastic and all sparkly in real life

blue skies and 79 degrees here in southern Maine. This evening's forecast calls for pasta salad eaten outside, with a 90% chance of proximity to water. A seagull front is likely to move in, and hopefully this time they won't fly off with my cookies.

"Tonight's forecast: Dark. Continuing dark throughout the night, with widely scattered light towards morning" (g. carlin)
