I'd lost track of my camera, so I haven't been able to send any pix here for a while. Well, I went to borrow one from a co worker and he GAVE it to me! Bonus! This is just in time for my up and coming trip to New Orleans. Now I can send some pix of my mug back to the wife...and the wildlife on Bourbon street! Michael (wireless) IM: mwsmith70 |

This little gizmo + my Diesel Excursion = Fun! What you are looking at is a Superchips Microtuner Max, model 1705 to be exact. Remember when computer controlled cars started coming out, and everyone complained how you couldn't work on them anymore? Not to mention all the headaches for people who wanted to hot-rod their cars. If you do something to radical to you car, you set off the 'service engine soon' light...which ain't good. Really bad here in Houston, TX and surrounding counties because if you bring your car in for the annual inspection with the SES light on, you'll never pass! Well, that's all changed now. :) The nice thing about computers is that they can be programmed. Same thing applies to the computer in your car. That little gizmo I got reflashes the computer to release gobs of power. How much you ask? How does 110 hp and 200 ft-lb of torque sound? Heck, that's more than some cars total output! So, after reflashing the ECU, I went from 250 hp/505 ft-lbs to 360 hp/705 ft-lbs. That's just based on what the manufacturer says, I haven't (and probably won't) dyno it. I can tell you that the thing flat scoots though. The great thing is that the tuner cost right at ~$300, the reprogramming takes about 10 minutes and I didn't even get my hands dirty! :) Michael (wireless) IM: mwsmith70 |
