At the Madison Square Garden, catchin' my Knicks versus the Magic. A tight game throughout, but the Magic prevailed behind Mobley's 34 points. It was good to be back in the Garden after a little hiatus (due to the Knicks playing like ass the past couple of years)... Grant Hill looked like his old, out of Duke self. My choice of reading material indicates my current mood is quite pessimistic. Something about Mondays... Maybe it's just pre-winter melancholy, maybe it's this lovely little cold bug I've inherited from my dearest, or maybe I'm just fed-up with all the nonsense. My little Pumpkin gorged herself on turkey, rice, and home-made sweet potato pie. Her little tum-tum had probably never eaten so much in one sitting in her life. After a spazzing adrenaline rush where her favorite word was "NO!" for one hour, she finally succumbed to the "Itis." On my way to oversee an overnight maintenance job. About to scare the hell out of my employees, because they weren't expecting me to show up today. Can you say, "Spot Inspection Time?" There's nothing like the deer-in-the-headlights look of someone who just saw their boss walk in the door...It's one of the very few enjoyable things about being managment. I've been passing this sculpture every workday for 7 months. It is found in the Kitano hotel on 37th and Park, and I call it "the Rat." I consider myself guaranteed of having a great night if I pass it on my way home. It's become my little good luck charm. Realizing that I had never gone in the hotel to see the Rat up close, I finally walked in and snapped a couple of pics. To my utter embarrassment, it's actually a bronze statue called "Dog," made by one of my fave artists: Fernando Botero himself! I knew there was a reason I always felt drawn to it...
