On the way to GCT....I noticed how festive the city has gotten recently. Everything looked, well, just pretty. After an arduous day at work, the last thing I expected was to be cheered up the sight of my beloved hometown. Every true New Yorker is numb to it's beauty already, so it's nice to take off the shades and look upon it with fresh eyes. This was a simple walk from 23rd to 42nd streets with me checking my email the first half of the trip. Some weird sculpture which I dubbed "Pan, the Goat God, smites the Dragon" was peeped in the Altria Building (where they film those "Truth.com" ads). Hmmmmm.... Little highlights were sprinkled all throughout my walk, and it was too much to film. Onto Sidekick v3.0... I would have much rather they spent the extra few months to patch up all these glitches rather than rush it out like they did. But who's the real fool here? Yours truly. Sorry about the previous f-up. One of my employees truly busted her ass today and I rewarded her with drinks after work. After a few too many Long Island's, I hustled myself onto the Metro North. Of course, this was after I threw her into a cab home (she's 5'2", about 120, so her drinks hit her hard). What a miserable day, totally wet and windy in the 30's... It hasn't even really snowed at all this December in NYC. Not feeling too tuff, but making a Spartan effort to go to work nonethless. At least this book gives me release, I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK! So edifying, and horrifying at the same time. It's like I thought "Da Vinci Code" would be a few chapters into it (until it totally fell apart). But "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" has so much more substance simply because it's true... Next book up: "Confessions of An Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins. It deals with a small, real-life cadre of individuals whose only goal is to subvert other countries and third-world nations to the will of a global empire (Ours). They do this by making these countries take out loans, via the IMF and World Bank, to fund modernization projects in their country. By making these nations default on their loans, they become dependent on the US and must offer either natural resources (Ecuador: Oil/ Africa: Oil, Gold, Precious stones/ etc.) and/or politcal sway in the United Nations. Guess who finally decided to fight back against us when we tried the same techniques on them and they realized they were being sucked dry? That's right, Iraq. They pose a threat to US interests only because we sold them the weapons, sold them the pipeline, sold them a couple of power plants and then got indignant when they wouldn't tow the line. No wonder we are loathed by most countries. Like Chris Rock said "America is like that Uncle that paid your way through college, but molested you."
