Adbusters Convert... Wed 01.26.05 8:26pm PST #12233 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Nov/Dec issue of Adbusters, a magazine I have never bothered to read before, is one of the most brilliant pieces of literature I have seen in quite some time... It apparently reports on a hypothetical trip into the future where the end of civilization is witnessed. WOW! Included in the many contributions is a poem by Czeslaw Milosz that I had to include in this post: "On the day the world ends A bee circles a clover A fisherman mends a glimmering net Happy porpoises jump in the sea By the rainspout young sparrows are playing And the snake is gold-skinned as it should always be. On the day the world ends Women walk through fields under their umbrellas A drunkard grows sleepy at the edge of a lawn, Vegetable peddlers shout in the street And a yellow-sailed boat comes nearer the island, The voice of a violin lasts in the air And leads to starry night. And those who expected lightning and thunder Are disappointed. And those who expected signs and archangels' trumps Do not believe it it happening now. As long as the sun and the moon are above, As long as the bumblebee visits a rose, As long as rosy infants are born No on believes it is happening now. Only a white-haired old man, who would be a prophet, Yet he is not a prophet, for he's much too busy, Repeats while he binds his tomatoes: There will be no other end of the world, There will be no other end of the world." Sorry for the über-long post, but I just had to get this out there... << "Wisdom is a thing rarely said, and less often heard." - Unknown >> |
More indoor snow fun... Sun 01.23.05 9:41am PST #12190 |
![]() ![]() Being snowed in and all, Fiancé and I decided to cook a great dinner and watch movies. Watched "Garden State" finally, and decided that I was jaded by all the hype. It just looked like a more spastic, less cohesive "Lost In Translation" without the good ending. Then we watched "Hero," with Jet Li. Visually stunning!! I tried my hand at making some "tribal" marble cake which came out great... The last pic is the scene of a horrible homocide, as this figure was obviously enraged that the other figure stole his pop-lockin' moves... << "Wisdom is a thing rarely said, and less often heard." - Unknown >> |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was ripped from blissful sleep this morning by a phone call. I snatched up the receiver and was prepared to cuss out the caller when I recognized my Goddaughter on the phone. She was blowing me kisses on the phone and asking me to come over ("pleeeeeeeeesh")...Who could deny that? So I came into the city and spent the day with her. We had breakfast (she fed my baby her bacon) and danced the day away. As the song goes: "In my world, only you...make me do for love, what I would not do..." << Wisdom is a thing rarely said, and less often heard - Unknown >> |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally received our meat delivery from KC Steak Company. Now that we've re-upped on this totally droolworthy form of sustenance, I happened to notice the packing ice in the container, and instantly went back to 4th grade. An hour later, a fun time was had with the dry ice...Now to get ready to go to work... (( The absence of vices adds so little to the sum of one's virtues - Antonio Machado )) |

![]() ![]() ![]() Probably would've been a better post with pictures of the Aztec statue...Hit send by accident, nothing as frustrating as Postus Interruptus. Anyhoo, final judgement: Worth the ducketts just for the sheer entertainment value. I've spent 8 bucks for much less...
