This one goes out to my girl Hot_Lead...

That's why it's always cool to run in to a gamer girl. We have a few at my favorite online gaming haunt, arsclan.net (an offshoot of the gaming forum at the greatest science news/tech/geek site on the planet, arstechnica.com), but HL is the only one who plays my favorite, Battlefield 1942. We've been having a fun little back and forth on the boards and she laid a couple digs in about the lameness of blogging, so I thought I might include her in the fun. So, here's to my favorite gamer chix. She's one fiesty lady in a tank.

I hate you, Wachowskis.
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI'm a huge Matrix whore. I loved the first one and really liked the second one, have all the soundtracks, action figures and whatnot...... I'm hoping the brothers decided it would be funny if they let the local 4th grade class make the third one. I don't know what the heck happened. I have a hard time believing the same guys who brought us in to a new era of sci-fi action unleashed that crapfest on us. Oh sure, I'll still buy the DVD when it comes out, just to round out the collection, but man..... What a way to blow the end to what started as an amazing trilogy...

In other news, I took a 4 hour (one way) road trip with my siblings and their progeny to see our only family on my Dad's side. The gatherings are getting smaller and smaller with everyone growing up and establishing their own lives. It's still nice just the same.

In other other news, I got the update for my Sidekick. Wow. Lots of great improvements and additions (cut and paste, for cripes sake!). It was definitely worth the wait.

Pic: On our visit, we were there long enough to see my cousin off to some sort of formal he was attending.

The revolution will be televised (sort of)
Iiiiiiiiit's Matrix Day!

We're in line right now. It's an hour before it starts and the line is already huge. Took the day off from work. I just watched Matrix 1 and Reloaded before coming. You know, every time I hear the Architect speech, I think I've got it figured out, but every time, I hear something new.

Missed my chance to take pics, which really sucks. Cheeseo factor is high. I've spotted 2 dudes and a girl (separately) wearing the Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity Reloaded coats, respectively. I think it's hilarious when totally plain people try to dress like cool movie characters (and it's not Halloween).

Theater's packed. Showtime in 10....

I took these some time ago. I was walking to McD's at the bottom of my hill (first time ever in the 2+ years I've lived there) and saw something pretty strange. A street sign where there's no street at all. The 2 pics are from both sides of the street, where the sign is. How odd...

Ha ha. Veeeerrry funny.

This is much more tame than the gel-slug (don't ask) - Hunchback of Notre Dame tryst I walked in on a couple years ago...

Bite me, Isabel
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayIt seems complications from the hurricane have caused phone issues in the Northeast. I can't make or receive calls, but I can receive vmail. Hope they fix it soon.

Saw "Underworld" Friday and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" on Saturday. Both were good fun, despite the detractors. Don't set your hopes too high and you're sure not to be let down. I'm curious why they didn't make more mention that "Once..." is essentially a sequel to "Deperado".

Pic: Saw this odd site, while walking out from "Once...". 2 identical, pea green VW Beetles parked nose to nose.

AAGH!!! *ahem*
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayMine got! What a freaking week... I was put on an issue noon Monday. There have literally been conference calls every 2-3 hours, around the clock, and still going... Lucky me got the lovely job of covering *all* of them. The zinger is that it has nothing to do with my realm. Thus, I've been spending hours a day sitting and doing nothing.....except listening to a bunch of annoying app people bicker. Screw them. I'm going to a movie....

Then she blew a fuse... Hair dryer. Zap. Everything electric in our apartment blinks out. I made it, though. I've blown off work. I've changed a fuse. I drove through the crappy weather Isabel is dumping on us. And here I am. "Underworld" in 10 minutes and counting...

I'm not much of a church goer...

Woops...
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayHoly crap, has it been busy work and life. I almost forgot about the moblog. Heh.

Tis the season to be jolly, and it's only September. I'm a media whore. There are just *way* too many great games, DVDs, and movies being released between now and Christmas. My bank account's going to hate me. In a week's time, I've bought Soul Calibur II (and special edition strategy guide w/ included soundtrack) and F-Zero GX for the Gamecube, Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons for the PC, and Season 2 of CSI on DVD. What's a geek to do?

Here's a pic of an *ooooold* laptop someone dug out of a cabinet at work. It weighs like 25 pounds, has a Pentium I processor (maybe it's a II) and originally had something like 2MB of RAM, with a 20MB hard drive. Yow. It ran OS/2, I think. It's a Honeywell Bull AP-L.
