Continuing my my quest for a few more dB, I put the ladder on the roof on top of some plywood and pushed the antenna higher. It looks like I got about 4dB (2 ASU) more. Kids, if you try this at home, be sure to remember to line up someone beforehand to help you get the ladder back down off the roof. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see an "Ed" Kennedy, a "Dan" Feinstein, a Schwarzenneger, and Trek Thunder Kelley with his "Please vote for me, thus breaking the 7th seal and incurring Armageddon" one-line platform. I didn't see anyone named Chad running... |
| The Theme Continues Sat 10.04.03 9:42pm PDT #6616 |
![]() ![]() We went to Foothill park for "Tarantula Trek" and saw a variety of spiders, including a 7-year old local tarantula named Rosie and a South American one with red knees forming a circle when seen from above. In the field trip we did not see any tarantulas, but we did see a few yellow banded argiope (seen here), and a few funnel spider holes, but no tarantulas. The second picture is the Halloween decoration which was about 3 feet across. Happy Birthday Hiptop Nation. |

| CellAntenna.com CAE50 Tue 09.30.03 3:29pm PDT #6554 |
![]() ![]() ![]() I ordered a CAE50 from CellAntenna.com and it arrived today. Rich helped me install it on the roof. With the attached whip antenna, I get ASU 24 right next to it, and about ASU 18 at a comfortable working distance inside my office. The signal doesn't go through the walls of the house very well, but I do get coverage in other parts of the house where I used to get none. I may upgrade to a higher-gain or more directional antenna -- we'll see what they have to say. |

| Lunch from Miyake Fri 09.26.03 1:52pm PDT #6502 |
![]() ![]() Lunch today at the PARC Cafeteria was catered by Miyake, a Japanese restaurant located next door to Danger. Normally I don't go there (theey shout at you and think you want weird things like Walnut Roll with Sake Shooter Bombs) but the neta looked good and the chefs actually spoke Japanese, so I gave it a try. |
