The cafeteria at work had a special lunch for MLK day -- fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, bread pudding, iced tea. The iced tea wasn't sweetened and the macaroni was really rigatoni, but it was close. The cafateria manager is from Texas.

Is it just me, or does anybody else find the idea of a Dora the Explorer pinata pretty strange? I can imagine myself whacking Barney with a big stick, but not Dora...

We just got back from a combination Buddhist-Jewish memorial service for Rich Gold, a prolific friend and colleague who passed away suddenly last week. Read about him, or read talks on art, collaboration, computers, and knowledge, manifestoes or the draft of his forthcoming nook The Plenitude.

I first knew Rich by reputation from running Little Computer People on the Commodore 64; it was the forerunner of The Sims. Later, I knew Rich at Xerox and PARC, where he spent a number of recent years. We will all miss him.
