![]() ![]() I got a new industrial the other day -- a straight 1 3/8" bar to replace my curved 1 1/2" piece. All was well and good with minor pain as my ear adjusted.... At least, until the pain started ramping up to now almost unbearable levels. And I can't get the bar out by myself and Nicki's away for the weekend... ARRRRHFJKVJCKDS --kalephunk |
| Lemon gum! Wed 04.07.04 6:19pm PDT #8726 |
![]() ![]() I glanced at the vending machines on the way out of Publix and did a double-take -- for $.50, I could get a Huge Piece Of Fruit Gum. Nicki scolded me but I scooped out the coinage and scored myself a lemon. It's surprisingly not terrible... In fact, it's some pretty good gum. I give this gum two thumbs up. --kalephunk |

![]() ![]() ![]() I got my tattoo tonight. It's a relatively simple geometric design that emphasizes the idea of community and knowledge, each form bringing its own piece together to form the cube. It also looks neat, kind of like a snowflake. Just like how I have only a cute penguin on my wrist... Heh. I also swapped out my ear weave for a straight industrial which I like a lot better -- the nearly verticalness is soopercool. Bodymods+++++++ --kalephunk |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just realized I never posted jpgs of my new job. My boxen -- a mini-itx main desktop and a celeron 450 test server (I've got 6 little p200s to test with behind me); my monitor (kdesktop with superkaramba and openbox browsing a page on failover), our case badges for the servers we deploy, and my sooper cool WiSIP phone. | grinding a litho stone Sun 04.04.04 11:56am PDT #8693 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a long and tedious procedure, but absolutely necessary if you want to print with the quality of a fine stone. First, it's essential that the stone is washed; then carborundum is sprinkled across the surface -- usually you start with 50 grain, then move on in steps to 100, then 180, then 220 as you get finer. After the carborundum is in place, the grinding begins, using a levetator. Stone-grinders tend to have large biceps for this reason - the damn levetator weighs a good 20-30lbs and you need to circle it around the stone until the carborundum becomes a fine silver paste. Then the stone and levetator must be washed, and more carborundum applied and ground again, until the stone's surface is as smooth as a baby's butt. Then, and only then, can you draw on the stone and etch and print off of it, another process for another day. --kalephunk |
| Freezepop! Fri 04.02.04 6:33pm PST #8672 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just saw my favoritest band evar, freezepop. They played at FITcon in Melbourne, FL -- a lame anime convention that somehow convinced a cool band like freezepop to come play. We made references to their roommate Becky and freaked them out stalkerishly, and sang along and danced. We were the only ones.... It was great. | movie night! Wed 03.31.04 3:47pm PST #8655 |
![]() ![]() Went to Video 21 and picked up a pair of films for the night. Chinese superhit "The Avening Fist" has a flashy cover and some mumbo-jumbo about a Power Glove in the engrish blurb on the back. Also, we got "High School Hellcats" from the super-secret Cult Movie section they have back right before the porn room. Woot for '50's cult teen flicks! --kalephunk |
