Richard Cheese is playing a free concert at Florida State University! He's so great.... He sings lounge covers of pop tunes, in case you didn't know. Check him out @ www.iloverichardcheese.com. Or come down to the FSU union and see him live!! He just pulled me on stage to sing the theme to the "Mary Tyler Moore Show" tto me, and I of course tossed my hat cuz I'm gonna make it after all. 2 signed cds and a signed 8x10 to show for the evening, plus a buncha hiptop pics. I'm so happy!! :DDDD

Man, what a great turn-out in this Republican conservative town. About 500 protestors at its peak, we marched to the capitol from campus (ALL uphill in 90-degree heat... damn we're dedicated ;) and protested for about four hours, through a thunderstorm. Lots of support from passing cars, honking their support, though we had a few people pass by yelling shit and flicking us off. Nice to see the support, though. I'm the one in the gasmask.

Hey boys. In stark contrast to many of my friends (dare I include everyone in the 18-34 demographic?), I'm enjoying the day in the Albuquerque airport, where a local Celtic group, Celtic Coyotes, have come to serenade passers-by. With 4 hours until my flight leaves, I'm pretty much sitting through every set and enjoying every minute of it -- especially the viola da gamba, instrument that I play.

I drove 5 hours each way to attend the last Friday of Bike Week in Daytona (my photo class was meeting there). I only remembered to take two pics with my hiptop cam -- two views of the sexy Honda Metropolitan 50cc scooter. I <3 scooters, especially this one -- I test drove it and had to restrain from laughing maniacally and driving off the test course and away.... *happy sigh* One of these days, yes, one of these days I'll save up enough for that sexy machine....

Here's a bit of culture for y'all -- here are some images from yesterday's Viola da Gamba concert featuring Roy Marks and Alison Crum, two very cool British gambists, and my professor, Pamela Andrews. The concert was spectacular, with a special appearance of Roy's theorbo (16-string Renaissance guitar). A viola da gamba, by the way, is a beautiful-sounding instrument akin to the cello, played in small ensembles of 2-6 players. I play the tenor ;)

This is the computer I just built for my girlfriend -- it's an 800mhz mini-itx with on-board everything stuffed into the cardboard box it was shipped in with a 150w PSU and a 40gb hard drive. Not enough room for the cdrom, so I made it a fashionable "external" drive. The power and hd leds and power/reset switches are currently just hanging about, for lack of duct tape with which to tie them down. High tech, folks. And look, my cardboard comp works fine -- it's installing Mandrake 9.1 rc1 as I type.
