dizzy
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI'm sitting in the Mall of America waiting for my brother to meet me. It was easier to take the bus from the airport and meet him here. Why is it that cities invigorate me and malls make me dizzy and tired? --heidi

This is the freedom walk. (On my way out of the office today on my last day of nine years with the same company.) Work will be a little closer to my life now. --heidi

A discarded child's veil on the sidewalk, but a thoughtful scarf on the penguin statue. --heidi
snow in Kansas City
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayThe geese by my office wouldn't let me get any closer than this. Everything is really pretty this morning with fresh snow. --heidi

I've never actually seen or eaten a jiffy pop, so my roommate made one (we are all better off if I have nothing to do with hot stoves). Not too bad. --heidi
end of an afternoon
We just ended a successful peace march/stroll through Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, its premier shopping district, after the hour-long protest in adjacent Mill Creek Park. I believe this was the first time the protest continued through the Plaza. The guy @ the corner on Nichols who is always there with an amplifier and keyboard started playing "Imagine" when we went by. --heidi

It's 58 degrees here @ the peace rally in Mill Creek Park. Loads of people are honking their horns in support. --heidi

A friend and I are waiting for a table for dinner at a restaurant inside Union Station. At least our wait won't be as long as those hundreds of people waiting in line to get in to the benefit for Union Station...$25 a head, I hear, gets you all you can eat and drink in an early cinco de mayo. (No music though.)

Don't know how these photos will turn out inside the station. Amtrak recently returned to the inside of the station. --heidi
not again
I was waiting for math class to start when Jennifer S. came in and said the Challenger exploded.

I found out about the Columbia on Hiptop Nation.

I can't believe this happened again. --heidi
