Anyone found a hearing aid?
At the grocery store tonight, an old man was sitting on the bench by the entrance holding up two handwritten signs, both of which read:

LOST HEARING AIDE If you find it, please call 816.xxx.xxxx

The sign that was also posted on the bulletin board at the front had more details about what kind of hearing aid it is.

I wonder how long he's been sitting there. --heidi

Snippets of my apartment building: the 70s stripes on the laundry room wall and the sweet curly-cues on the ceiling of the elevator. --heidi

The Dime Store in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City has an amazing array of hair nets for sale. I have never seen so many hair nets. I couldn't get the whole display area in a hiptop photo: there are three shelves and then three more rows on the wall. You've got your bouffant size, bob size, regular size, and chignon (bun); fine mesh, tiny mesh, no elastic, with elastic, black, blonde, gray, white, light brown, medium brown, dark brown (didn't see any red)...and then, for special occasions, the glamour hairnet, which is "enchanting by day bewitching by night." --heidi

urban cultcha

mobile protest
I love my SK...how else would I be able to protest in a virtual march on DC today (http://www.moveon.org/winwithoutwar) while riding the bus? --heidi

From the Walker Art Center, Nicollet Mall, and the University of Minnesota: abandoned mismatched gloves in the snow @ the Walker and snow on the wall @ the U, but flowers for hair on Nicollet! --heidi
@ the MSP airport
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI've never used an airport locker, but apparently now "multiple fingerprint scans are required" to do so in the Mpls/St Paul airport. --heidi
on Grand Avenue in St. Paul MN
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI don't think the hiptop's camera is up to getting the details of this billboard (even though I tried). It's a billboard with a photo of a kid waving an American flag. The text reads "What makes us great." "UNITY" was the original answer, but someone spraypainted that out and added "dissent." "Pass it on" says the Foundation for a Better Life. Dissent! --heidi
still waiting
I'm beginning to think that waiting for my brother @ the Mall of America was not such a good idea. (They have a transit center here for passes and schedules though that I needed to stop @.) There are far more people here than @ the airport.

Don't ever agree to meet someone @ the Mall of America, especially someone who doesn't have a cell phone. --heidi
