@ the bus stop
There is a full moon (if not technically, then it looks like one) out on this springlike evening, but the vacant old house by the bus stop where I'm waiting has a screen door that is blowing open and shut, open and shut, creaking a little. I thought I might miss the bus or I would go up to the next bus stop to wait because this is creeping me out. A few slats of the window blinds in front are bent so someone could look through them. The door is creaking again, and the full moon is reflected in the dark upstairs windows. Remind to not wait at this stop anymore.

Ah, the bus is here! --heidi
Happy St. Patty's Day!

I hate Schering-Plough
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayAs if drug companies don't already make enough money off of us, they go and do this.

I take Claritin-D every day in hopes of avoiding having to go back on allergy shots again. Claritin-D recently went over-the-counter. Great, huh?

Not when you take it every day and pay at least $1.20 a pill. Schering-Plough, the company who makes Claritin-D, then rubs it in. The packaging for the pills has six perforated foil squares on a sheet. Each square with a pill has the official drug name in addition to "Claritin-D 24 Hour" and the expiration date and the company name.

But instead of putting a SIXTH PILL in the sixth square like a normal person would think to do, the evil Schering-Plough thought instead to REMIND me that I'm taking "Claritin-D 24 Hour" on that sixth square, just in case having the drug name on the PILL ITSELF and on each freakin foil square wasn't enough. That sixth square has no pill, only their brand name.

So by putting 5 pills on a card that can hold at least 6, they sell more pills to people like me who need to take them every day.

I hate these marketing motherfuckers. I curse them every time I take that fifth pill and throw that empty last square away. Maybe I should keep emailing them instead. (Got the generic response to my first email about this.)

But hey, at least the bad DJ stopped. --heidi
time to get going
There is a small St. Patty's parade in my neighborhood today @ 2, but the bad DJ music has already started. (I can hear it inside my apt with the windows closed.) I was subjected to a really bad DJ @ a party last Saturday, so two in a row is just too much. Not all the music they play is bad, but it's so damn predictable. Why do they suck so much?? I guess this is the kick I need to get my ass outside today on this beautiful spring-like day. --heidi
here kitty kitty
About a week and a half ago, I noticed something leopard-print outside in a downtown alley on top of a ledge. At first, from the sidewalk, it looked like someone's winter hat. I reminded myself to look for it again the next day or so, and it was still there.

Yesterday as I was walking by that alley to go to the bus stop, I walked up to it to see what it was. It was a cat bed, and there were little dishes out and an empty cat food tin.

Today, I saw two cats. As I was walking by and looking back toward the cats, a woman parked her car and got out. She said she's there every Wednesday and has seen at least four cats. She has no idea who is feeding them.

It was too dark already for a hiptop photo, but now I want to know the deal. The buildings right by there look empty, so I doubt they belong to anyone.

It's what I love about cities. A cat bed outside in the middle of downtown and someone feeding them. --heidi
heading back from lunch

what gives?
Why is it that when I send emails to HN that I had saved as drafts and attach the photos right before sending, I get that "original attachments unavailable" message even though they're on there?! --heidi
