I went to the dentist this morning for a little filling, so my lip is fat and numb yet. I'd better not drink anything for a while.

My dentist is the best; he's the only one I've been to where I can be relaxed the whole time, even when getting a filling. So even though I was up early for an 8 am dentist appointment, I'm happy.

This is the first time I've flown since the latest changes in airport security, so I was dreading the breast exam at the airport security gate. Thankfully, I managed to avoid it so far, probably in part to the fact that by the time I got through the detector, they were already doing the final boarding call for my flight and I was nervous about getting over there and a woman security agent was sympathetic to my worry. Whew.

I'm set for my connecting flight in Minneapolis. This is the first time I've been through here since they opened their airport tram, which is faster getting through the long airport for tight connections. (Won't get to see light rail this trip.)

I haven't gotten to the Vanity Fair profile of Eliot Spitzer yet, but I'm looking forward to reading it on my next flight. I can't seem to read anything other than magazines on flights.

You know when you've left Kansas City and entered the upper Midwest when you see ads for cheese curds in the airport. I'm headed to Wisconsin, land of cheese. (There is even a cheese factory in the town where I'm headed, but sadly, I think no Sidekick service.)

As an agnostic, I'm usually fairly allergic to organized religion. But sometimes there's something reassuring about a church or other religious images. I was near this church in midtown Kansas City and stopped by its grotto this afternoon.

I may not be looking for the same thing, but we're both searching.

Riders at this shelter have almost permanently usurped a nearby free paper box to serve as a bench. Today a man added an empty bucket to the usual seating arrangements.

You know you're feeling a little fragile when you almost start to cry after circling most of the fruit in the grocery store without spying any pomegranates. "But I wasn't ready for pomegranate season to be over! It's too short, and I haven't eaten enough of them this time!"

Thankfully, I found a small section after all the apples and oranges and cantaloupe and grapes and lemons and limes. I bought four. There are still 40 left.

Thanks Mike! I've loved watching Cianna grow up on hiptop Nation. Can't believe she's a year old already!

I have a stats test tomorrow morning, so I'm hunkering down for the night, set with yummy Indian food (chicken bombay, medium spice) to feed my brain for studying. The Mountain Dew is in reserve for later, if need be.
