| Help (Toilet Water Explanation??) Thu 11.13.03 7:50am PST #7188 |
![]() ![]() ![]() "The next time you notice a strong wind blowing outside your house, go to the bathroom and closely observe the water level in the toilet bowl. The water level may be shifting up and down! On rare occasions, I have observed an amplitude of nearly four millimeters. What causes the oscillation of the water level?" (Physics Brain Teaser) Uhm, we're having 50+ MPH winds in Chantilly, VA, right now. The metal & glass roof of my office is making a horrible howling, and we're getting some wild variations in toilet water levels. Can anyone explain the toilet water rising and falling by an inch or two?? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Despite getting a new Garmin eTrex Legend for my birthday, weather and family health has kept me from logging any geocaches. :( With both my parents back at home and better weather tomorrow through Sunday, I hope to log a cache or a few soon. ...maaaan, I wanna play... At least log my first cache?? :) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's been an interesting weekend. On Friday was my 31st birthday. I watched "The Matrix Revolutions" at the theatre and "Finding Nemo" at home. Vicky took me to Famous Dave's for dinner (baby back ribs!) and then gave me my gift of a Garmin eTrex Legend so I can now geocache and geodash when not getting lost in the car. :D Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend was a mixed bag. Vicky's mom returned from Inova Fairfax Hospital on Sunday morning. She was in the hospital for nearly two weeks after a triple bypass (CABG) and a valve replacement. Her dad was having "crushing chest pains" and admitted to Washington Hospital Center last night. He's still there this morning, having spent the night in the ER waiting for blood test results and to speak to a Kaiser Permanente cardiologist. As I said, it was interesting weekend. =/ |

![]() ![]() ![]() My mother-in-law was discharged from Inova Fairfax Hospital this morning, but my father-in-law had "crushing chest pains" this afternoon. He was rushed to Washington Hospital Center. They just took the echocardiogram and blood enzyme tests. We're waiting for the test results and to speak with the Kaiser Permanente doc. It's been a long day in what's been a long two weeks. :( |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For my 31st birthday, Vicky and I slept in, then went to see "Matrix Revolutions", then watched "Finding Nemo" at home, then had an awesome dinner of baby back ribs at "Famous Dave's". My birthday gift was a Garmin eTrex Legend. I loaded topo and street maps of Loudoun County, Fairfax County, and Metro DC onto it. :D You will now find me geodashing in NoVA (there's a few waypoints by me, will take pics), and geocaching neary as well (going to start small/easy at Great Falls then Metro DC). Last couple pics are of my new iTrip for the Apple 30GB iPod. It came last week, but I never took pics. Signal strength seems about on par with the Belkin Tunecaster, but with a different antenna radiation pattern. The form factor and ease of the iTrip has been awesome. |
