Last night I jumped on the bus and headed across town to meet some friends at the DNALounge to see Halou. I had been introduced to them only a week before, but loved what I heard. I'm not one to pass up great music for $10 at the door. I arrived late after the commute home, missing a podcast meetup *shrug* and a performance that was broadcast live in Second Life. But I did catch Zoe Keating who was amazing. I don't know how her brain does it, but as a single person on stage she was layering multiple loops live and beautifully. Definitely someone to see if you get a chance. After her set, I amused myself with the sign they had up. You can submit your message via webpage or email and it will flash up there for everyone to see. This is the message it froze on for the rest of the night. Halou came on and I fell in love with their music. Such a great sound. This description does them no justice, but it was a sort of mix between Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps, and maybe a touch of Hybrid. Great vocals, great electronic sounds, and the video eye candy on the screen behind them was wonderful too. They're local to the Bay but if they ever swing by your woods, check them out.
