![]() ![]() ![]() I'm playing in a $5000 tournament tonight, and I figured id take a little time and brush up on my poker reading. I figured Texas Dolly just cashed in the $50,000 HORSE event at the world series, so who better to learn from. His book is so damn thick, I feel like I could beat someone to death with it. --Chris Falco |

Since this happened to me while the world series of poker is going onm I think I'm obligated to pay someone a buck...anyways. In late positon on a cash NL game, There's a min raise, then a min reraise. I have pocket 5's. it's like $.50 to call. I call figuring one of them or both has a big pair. If I hit a set, I'll take their whole stack, flop is 235 rainbow. The first guy bets $1, the other player calls, I call to slow play and string them both along. Turn is Q and the first player goes all in for $4. The second player calls this bet. I figure the first player just made his set, and that the other guy is still playing his AA or KK strong. He has like $10 left, and I have enough to cover them both. I reraise all in and get called for about $15 total. So even if the first guy has the QQ, I put him on, I will still make $10 on the had as long as I beat the other guy. I show my set of 3's, the first player shows QQ for a set of queens, and the last player turns over A5 offsuit, for a pair of 5's (which was top pair on the flop). Thing are looking good, I'm expecting a $5 loss to the first player and a $15 win from the second. The river is a sickening 4 and the second guy now has a wheel, and the whole pot. He has hit a four outter, (an 8.6% chance) to win the whole, $40+ pot. Boo. -------- On a side note, my biggest win on a single hand was a $900+ pot in a no limit cash game on Full Tilt Poker against professional Andy Bloch, I trapped with an overpair to his pair and flush draw, which held up. Today I'm reading coverage of the $50,000 buy in, H.O.R.S.E. Tournament at the WSOP and I see that Andy Bloch took second place and 1.3 million 2nd prize. Very nice going :) To bad he couldn't beat me! Ha! --Chris Falco |
