Lotsa white stuff in Boston right now. Call me nuts, but I love it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm not slaved to a car...

Mike and I were interviewed a couple weeks ago. The article just came out today. :)

Got a new painting today. It's a small ink wash piece titled "Spirits with Tree." Very ethereal and dreamlike. I love it.
The abstract was accepted!
Woo! I know I'm breaking my own rule by posting more than twice here in the same day, but I just got notice...

The abstract I proposed here was peer-reviewed and accepted!

Yay! Now all I gotta do is...well...write the dang paper. :P

I'll be in contact with all the Team Raven members, and I also plan to solicit ideas and experiences from everyone else here at Hiptop Nation who participated in the Hunt. Everyone who contributes will be given full credit, and I see this paper as an opportunity to give a real "voice" to our whole HN blogging community.

I'm very excited! We've already been mentioned in the press numerous times, and now we'll be featured in a real peer-reviewed academic publication. Makin' history, woo! :)
Hiplogs: Testing, copyright, and privacy

:)

I wonder about the whole copyright and privacy and "must use tmail.com" deal. I know I should give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've been burned before...
Always Read the Fine Print
Hmmm. Was just checking out the "Terms of Service" over at hiplogs:

http://www.dangerinfo.com/hiplog/agreement/

Seems whatever you post in your blog becomes the "property" of Hiplogs. Whatever you write or whatever images you post.

Ick. I don't like that one bit. They should have done the right thing and clearly stated that whatever anyone posts to the hiplog remains the "property" of whoever posts it.

Forewarned is forearmed...

Been too long since I posted pics of truly small and strange things, so here I go. It's bone-chilling cold here in Boston, and my apartment is ancient and drafty (yes, I am wearing my hat indoors), but fortunately I've got plenty of small and strange things lying around inside to choose from. :)

Dav, I love those pix of the protest, including you costume. Imagine if lots of people at the protest were wirelessly blogging and posting pix in realtime. Who needs news agencies? We could watch things unfold and read firsthand accounts from the direct perspective of those involved. Truly the future of reporting and journalism in my opinion.

As for the new hiptop.com blog site...feh. I have no idea why they didn't establish a "relationship" with Hiptop Nation. Seems silly. Anyway, maybe I'll post over there just to direct people *here*, eh? :) Hiptop Nation is the true pioneer here, and I think we have a great bunch of people. Let the "competition" do whatever they like...I know where *I* call home...

Hey groovygirl, you don't have to get apple pie with that...cause you can apparently get a McDonut that *tastes* like an apple pie (well, apple crisp, but close enough.)

I am back in Boston. Fortunately, while I was at that NYC-based Mcdonald's, I pocketed the table card advertising the McDonut flavors (I wanted to save it to prove I wasn't hallucinating the whole McDonut experience).

As you can see from the pic, the first flavor they list is APPLE CRISP.

Maybe it's just me, but I find that flavor REALLY bizarre. I can totally understand donut flavors based on fruit (e.g., blueberry) or candy (e.g., chocolate). But if you think about it, all basic donut flavors *build on* the existing *natural* flavor of a donut. I mean, a plain donut has a very distinct flavor. Donut flavor.

But Apple Crisp is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT DESSERT DISH, with it's own unique flavor. So how can you make an apple crisp flavored donut? That would be like making....a donut flavored apple crisp. Right?

Maybe I just need to eat a plain goddamn plate of apple crisp and chill out...

"Would you like that in donut flavor?"

Pulled in to Penn Station. Decided to walk up 8th Ave to my hotel (the Paramount on West 46th). On my way, I saw the most amazing thing...

McDonuts!

Talk about small and strange...

Imagine if you can. A McDonald's selling mini-donuts...and in the whole storefront window was a huge ROBOTIC MINI-DONUT MAKING MACHINE. I've seen such a machine in Pike's Place Market in Seattle, but on a much smaller scale.

Of course I bought some. And they were delicious!

Just when you think you've seen every possible strange thing in the world, along comes something out of left field.

Only in NYC.
