Happiness is riding home in a cab with two new purchases guaranteed to make me smile.

New Radiohead CD and the Animatrix DVD. Joy!

Sometimes being a media consumer is OK. Sometimes, it's even A-OK.

Haven't been posting as much as I'd like. Been travelling in Iceland. But once I get my Color SK and the new higher-rez camera, that will change. :)

First ducklings of spring spotted in the Boston public garden! Lil' fuzzballs! Wish I could put one in my pocket and take him to work...

I got some free samples of a new gum called Ice Breakers. Decent gum. Nothing special. Visiting their website is a trip cause they try to market it as some kind of friggin extreme sport or something. "UNLEASH YOURSELF!" says the website. Um, no thanks, I JUST WANT TO CHEW SOME GUM, not bungee jump off a bridge doing a snowboarding backflip while listening to thrash music and holding a pair of pointy scissors.

But there's one thing particularly odd about these free samples. They are in a package that looks exactly like a condom package. Of course I'm too dense to notice this myself...a friend pointed it out to me.

What's next? Condoms in packages that look like sticks of gum? Candy bars that look like....well, you get the picture.

Woop! Me and 4 other friends have secured some super-cool el1te hax0r space in Cambridge. We're renting it as a place for us to do, well, eli1te hax0r stuff like building killer robots, practicing our hacking kung-fu, and hosting adult entertainment sites. Also as a place for us to pile tons of computer and electronic equipment as we rip it apart and expand our global domination plans. :P

Check it out...we've got a living room-dining room-kitchen area, complete with not one but TWO lava lamps, a black leather couch, and a standup arcade version of BattleZone. Our favorite flag is also hanging on the wall. Then we have the "workspace" room with a bunch of desks with workstations and benchspace with test equipment. Then we have access to a basement where we keep our rackspace and our co-lo setup. Finally, a dedicated T1 is all ours, bay-bee!

All in all, an "adult hax0r clubhouse." Now all we need are some girls around here. :)

I absolutely love the work of Ray Harryhausen, the pioneer special effects stop-motion animator. He created all his own models and hand-animated them all by himself. Anyway, I found a website that is now selling little

models of all his famous creatures...small and strange and wonderful! I think I'll eventually get them all!

Pictured is the "moon calf" creature from the movie "First Men in the Moon" by H.G. Wells. In the movie, it was as big as an elephant and was raised by the moon aliens for food (like giant cows). Terrified me when I saw it as a kid. Now as small as a mouse and sitting in the palm of my hand, it is far less scary but still as cool looking as when I saw it lumbering across the movie screen.

Izzy (pictured) approves, and has already tried to eat it. :P

They live on my desk at work...

Speaking of work....if today really is "Count Zero Day," then can I make it an international holiday so everyone can have a 3-day weekend?

Woo! Holiday! Everyone go home and have fun!

Well, everyone is now back in the Boston Commons. I've heard that at the peak there were over 75,000 people walking. Everyone is flopping down on the grass, sitting and talking, eating, just generally relaxing. We walked about 3 miles and people seem pretty tired, but happy in a very positive way. I see people smiling, petting park ranger horses, while 5 news helicopters circle above in the blue sky. It's a neat feeling....just a bunch of humans, sitting on the ground, tired and happy that they worked for peace today.

I think I'll take a nap. Can't remember the last time I fell asleep on warm grass. Been too long. :)

Just ran into this guy sitting on the sidewalk. Digital camera connected to laptop connected to cellfone. Turns out he is a photographer for the Boston Globe, and he's uploading pics of the protest to the newspaper. I told what I was doing with my Sidekick, and he totally loved the idea of blogging with pics while walking. I think he's gonna get one now.

Nice sign....."If we didn't protest unjust war when US troops were in combat, we'd still be in Vietnam."

Just saw a bunch of people in identical blue jumpsuits with "Ingsoc" on the backs, carrying signs that simply say "war is peace." Excellent.
Cops videotaping?

What the hell...I just walked by a bunch of Boston cops, and two of them had camcorders. They were just standing still and videotaping the march as it went by. Is that "standard policy" or what?

Fine. So I will take pictures of them, then. But I can upload them immediately and blog while I walk by them. So if they do anything funny, I'll post it right away and the whole web can learn about it. :)
