It's Been A Long Time...
Hey folks...an Old Crank...just checking in...haven't posted in a while...moved into new house in December. Girls love having their own rooms. Got master bedroom, formal dining room, living room turned into family for home entertainment system furnished. Need to add some personal touches like family photos. Need chairs for old dining room table. The kitchen & bathroom cabinets have that very dated "80s" look to them. Husband doesn't seem to be in a hurry to refinish the cabinets, but he is stressing about the "popcorn" ceiling and carpeting. Other than that, EVERYTHING IS COOL.

Still using Treo 600. Haven't been taking very many phone camera pics or blogging since I've been focused and enjoying our new home :) Don't know if anyone has ever heard of VOOM HDTV which R.I.P. on my cough....cough...milestone birthday a few weeks ago. Anyways, they only had 46K subscribers and went belly up. VOOM had the most HDTV programs. VOOM sold off their exclusive HDTV programs to DISH network. Family hasn't been watching much TV since then. We had DISH for about 1 month and then went to VOOM and we're going back to DISH. Looking forward to recording in HD.

Husband has been obsessing about building a basement on our home. Mind you, we live in CA and DramaKween will be off to college in about 2 years. Our next door neighbor represented the people who sold us the house and neighbor isn't my "fave" person. Recently, neighbor lady was trying to imply that since we moved in -- their car tires have been slashned, mailbox vandalized and something happened to one of the house windows. She came to our house the 3rd day after we moved and started complaining about our dog barking. ...and that kind of "did it" for me since then.

Going to Reno for family vacation in August and hope family can vacation in Italy next year.

I see that the results are still being tallied for the Halloween Hunt of 2004. Hope the Ladies had a splendid Mother's Day and hoping that Father's Day has just the right amount of "warm fuzzies."

You guys stay safe and sane.......

Former "Old Cranks Club SK'er" Checking In...
A lot of "new blood" aka new folks on HipTop Nation....still no HN scavenger hunt results though. I just may break down and get DramaKween a SKII for her 16th-bday. Got my annual review today, no big suprises....except my manager thinks I'd be good in management -- huh? Told him I'm more intersted in being a worker bee...don't want to deal with other people's drama...have a hard enough time just "managing" my 2 girls. We moved into our new home on December 21st. Still too many boxes everywhere. Throughly enjoying the shorter commute to/from work. Bingo had been barking nonstop in the wee hours of the morning for 2 days straight. Next door neighbors weren't happy campers so they paid us a "what's up with that??" visit the other night. We live in the foothills so the area critters are of the skunk, possum variety. My husband tried to explain to the neighbors that our dog only barks when there are strangers lurking or critters bothering him. We smelled skunk aroma for several hours a few nights before.

HHH III -- It's Back...
In ole' school format like it was a few years back. This revived Hiptop Hunt format should be more fun & interactive than last year. This is my first year/time not being in on the action because I "sold out" for the Treo 600 last year.

Have fun folks and stay safe out there........

Following In The Steps...
of some other Hiptop'rs...we're moving on up and out. We'll be in our new home in time for the Thanksgiving holidays. We got an offer on "old" our home last night...hopefully it pans out. I'm going to miss our "old" home for a lot of reasons: my youngest daughter was born here, I spent time with and enjoyed my father-in-law's (who passed away a few years ago) company and stories of when he was a much "younger man" and brother-in-law when SaxyHC and I were first married. They home/babysat" our oldest daughter (now 15) when we went on our honeymoon. We've had some good times in this house together as a family and as a couple. I like the location and environment because it's quiet (when the neighbors a few doors away aren't bumpin' their music) and I love to hear the sounds and see the sights of nature especially on the weekends when I wake up in the morning.

We're moving because we spend too much time commuting and not enough time at home or being able to relax the way we'd really like to and we need more space for SaxyHC's music equipment, etc. My kids are looking forward to the move but will also miss this home. They'll need to make new friends and get used to a different environment. The moving process is stressful and frayed our nerves at times, but we've been able to keep it together since the mid-point. We've been spending more time in making family decisions.

I look forward to the three-day weekend (Columbus Day) because I'm in need of a mental health day break ;)

Ciao....

Cingular To Acquire AT&T Wireless
Cingular Wireless announced today an agreement to acquire AT&T Wireless. Today, the combined company would have 46 million customers and one of the most advanced digital networks in the U.S., with spectrum in 49 states and coverage in 97 of the top 100 markets. The combined 2003 annual revenues of the two companies would have exceeded $32 billion.

Because of improved spectrum holdings, the new company should be able to accelerate its offering of advanced wireless data services and pave the way for high-speed third generation services in the future. Cingular and AT&T Wireless have been leaders in rolling out high-speed wireless data offerings, including GPRS (General Packet Radio Services), EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) and trialing next generation UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). So where does this leave T-Mobile on the playing field???

TAL - Sesame Street Style.......
We now have "Homeland Security Advisory System" posters in the lobbies of the corporate office where I work. These posters are to promote ongoing awareness ... in our daily activities.... The posters will be updated by Security any time there is a change in the national threat level....I'm guessing there must have been threats made to utility-type companies recently.

It's Chilly
It's chilly outside and the sun hasn't been out. I leave tomorrow for home. It's been a nice break with some peace and quiet, but i do miss my family.
