Uncle Eric and Aunt Hilda dropped by San Antonio with Will while my cousin Wayne is here for his E7 training before he gets sent back to Iraq. We had a fun meal on the river at the Lonestar Cafe (l to r: me, Will, Hilda, Eric, Wayne -- I have GOT to stop doing that "my head is on crooked pose") serenaded by mariachi.

Turns out my Borders had last month's issue on the rack. Wasn't a total waste, though. I was tickled to see that the lenses I bought for my Sidekick were featured alongside a piece on Vladmaster's View-Master-themed art pieces. I picked up Actaeon at Home last week. I feel so... hip. ;)

Walked out front to get the mail, and there were scuffling noises coming from the bushes. Three armadillos emerged! They were so adorable, and I petted one to find he was quite soft. So. Adorable.

The USAA Concert Band, Chorus, and Jazz Band perform a concert every spring at Mission San Jose. It's an incredible event. You get to watch the sun set over a historic backdrop while the music plays. For my friends in D.C., imagine Wolf Trap if it were built in the 1700s only free and with your coworkers on stage (being amazingly talented -- when you have 22000 employees to pick from, you get some that probably should have gone into music instead of accounting).

Some shots of the mission itself are followed by Jose (Laura's Significant Other and my companion for the evening), Scott, Chip, and Laura rehearsing the National Anthem, Bruce leading the concert band halfway through the night, a little later leading the chorus, and Laura (that's my skirt!), Irma, and Nicole singing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, which was a huge hit. Laura's one of those wildly talented people I was referring to, having served in the Air Force before she came to USAA and my favorite feral cat mommy. ;)
