So... what's the general consensus on the SK3? (FCC link courtesy of mobilehipster, once-removed -- via PopGadget) |
| Coasting Thu 06.15.06 9:15am PDT #18150 |
Had to get a gratuitous shot of the mpg. Apparently the mile and a half coast from my gas station to 410 and Blanco is mostly downhill and full of stoplights. Traditionally this sort of mileage shows for the first half a mile out of the chute or so. Shannon has a similar entry on her impressive 59 mpg in her Ford Escape Hybrid for 2.7 miles. I wonder if all hybrid owners experience this same sort of denouement (which I had to look up, because I didn't believe the middle E existed). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Best Friend is doing something really amazingly cool today: participating in a triathlon. It's the Danskin one in Austin. I'd be so in there with her if it weren't for the whole biking and swimming part, as she sp aptly pointed out in her invitation. ;) It's women only, which is cool. The thing they really need, however, is a good sound system to blast across the whole area which wave was heading into the water or yell out the occasional participant's name as she started the run instead of only being encouraging at the end. But I'm spoiled, because I'm used to the amazing announcing at the Marine Corps Marathon, where they call in runners' numbers from certain checkpoints to cheer them on and inform their fans. Start off with a few shots of the lake / marsh (1) and the volunteers whose unenviable job it is to wade out into the water and help the swimmers in (2). Greg was amazingly patient with my "Yeeaaaaaah!" "Whoooohooooo!" mantra as racers came in from the swim (3-5). He and Jay camped out at the bike finish, and I manned the run start (6), so they gave me a heads-up that she was on the way, which is amazingly valuable in a field of 3000. This is probably the most sun I'll get all summer. Greg appears to be baking (7). And now through the miracle of me being a lazy bum, Holly is done! Here's an ass-shot (8) as she runs by to the finish (the proper one didn't turn out). And one of her lounging with her medal (9). Whee! Okay. I'll simmer down now. |
| Kindergarten Graduation Fri 06.09.06 6:55pm PDT #18115 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, my first big social event of the weekend is through -- Zoe's kindergarten graduation. It went swimmingly, as you can tell from the photos. They all recited poems ala Shel Silverstein, and Zoe read hers in Chinese and then translated for the masses. ;) Amy looked relaxed that it's all over. As the "graduation coordinator," she's been working on stuff for it for weeks now. It's good to see the family relaxed again. |

Got my first issue of my Liberty Meadows subscription today. As an indicator, I signed up in August of 2004, but Frank Cho's been busy doing other stuff and hasn't had a lot of time to put in at the animal sanctuary. In other news, I think my comic book subscription earns me a geek merit badge in yet another genre. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Went to Visible Changes as recommended by Judith and Janet to get the cut. Thanks to all the folks who voted. I ended up going with a modified #6 (no bangs, more layers). And now I'm off, spredsheet in hand to procure cosmetics from all ends of the mall, as recommended by Kim, who@ls doing an e-makeover for me. For those of you who recognize the packaging, I didn't actually procure any Hard Candy, but I couldn't resist taking a shot of the cuteness. And I finally screwed my courage to the sticking point and walked into MAC, walking out with one Teddy eye kohl in tow and feeling pretty hip. I think I could do it again. If I had to. |
