Flew back for a gaming session last night. Flying out this morning. You know you have good friends if they show up at o'dark 30 at Denny's to have breakfast with you. I forgot to get a picture of Laura with her great new haircut (I blame lack of sleep) before she left for her singingly praise duties (she's graduated from chorus to Rockette or something like that), but I did get a cute one of Judith and her daughter, Erica. Swung bt the house, gave scritches to Milla, and now I'm at the airport to fly back to D.C., enjoying a coconut-pineapple-wheat grass smoothie, the natural follow-up to hash browns, bacon and pancakes. On the plus side, the fat isn't really having a chance to settle in my arteries before the wheat grass comes through. Wheat grass to cholesterol: Nothing to see here. Please move along. Cholesterol to wheat grass: Do you know how early it is? *grumbles* |

| Mom's on Food Network Thu 09.14.06 3:10pm PDT #19261 |
Sampled their wares for the first time last week and when I returned today for a second helping, found out Mom's Apple Pie Bakery is going to be on Road Tasted next week on the Food Network. I don't know how it's going to be, since I rely on Jane and Michael Stern normally for this sort of review, but no matter how the show is, I'm still elated to see a small local chain highlighted on television. |

| Five Guys, a Girl and a Burger Place Wed 09.13.06 11:34am PDT #19254 |
One of the best developments since I've been gone is that Five Guys have sprung up all over. I was tagging them all with the Garmin to start with, but there are three within 5 miles of my place, so it's beginning to look like my HEB landmark moment (when I moved to San Antonio, I thought I'd remember where I lived because it was right near the HEB -- I didn't realize there are 7 billion HEBs in San Antonio, and it might not make the best landmark). In other news, go Jake! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good day for being only a few hours long. Caught Hey Nunnie Nunnie, the chess match, Steph looking stunned, the O'Danny Girls, Gazzo, and In Our Cups. Plus, some shots of Foster's glass and a mermaid in ... some shop I can't remember but in which it seemed out of place. Not that there's often an appropriate spot for mermaids on land. The one thing I didn't manage to catch was the birthday boy, so I may have to mail his gift. Now that I've carried it around the warm festival. Er. Hmm. |
