For Ashley

Yesterday was a very inside, curl-up and whimper for no reason despite medication kinda day. Today, on the other hand, is a get out and get suplies to tackle a bunch of little projects around the house kinda day. Get to fire up the jigsaw when I get home. *makes Tim Allen noises*

1) Brought Jack Sparrow out to the festival this weekend. Here he eyes the opening gates. 2) Mimi tries to figure out how to hotwire a bike from up there. 3) Saw a bunch of shows today. First stop, opera. Makin-a Meatballs with Bob da Vinci. 4) Dawntreader smiles demurely for the camera. 5) Darcy patiently allows Jack to invade the pirate camp. He scores a muffin from Skivee. 6) Stopping for a moment to listen to Cyd's violin. 7-8) Some shots of Allison from The Aerial Angels.

And my tmail spam hasn't been getting worse, but I still average c. 10 messages a day. Wish they'd add a filter so I could use it as a real mailbox.

First, my latest girl gadget. I splurged and bought a pair of shoes called OneSole. The theory is that you buy one shoe bottom and various vamps for the sandal part, which has snaps that attach and detach (photo 2). So far I have seven pairs of shoes out of the deal for a little over $100, so that's not too bad for my normally thrift-shop budget.

Drove out to Fountainhead Regional Park to check out where the canoes were. Nice foliage along the way.

Got a few shots around Occoquan, including a koi pond and a kitty named Big Daddy who weighs in at 30 lbs. I was pulled in to Accolades Florist purely by his gravity. He's apparently owned by the neighbor shop, 13 Moons, but he considers the whole block his territory, so the proprietress of the florist goes and fetches him in the mornings when she gets there. He's lost weight; he was 36 lbs. when they picked him up at the shelter. Bought some lovely gerbera daisies basically because the chick in Accolades was so sweet and she gave me a discount. Definitely going back, and not just for da kitty pettins.

Last shot is for Ashley and Amy: you guys were right. Thanks for the advice. Got the outlet on a remote now, and the living room looks chic. Thanks.
Theory

Stayed over at Lauren's last night and got to meet her new kitties, Wuzzy and Taylor (posing for Halloween).

I thought (correctly) that it would be a perfect day at that the festival, and apparently (from the traffic) everyone in the D.C. area agreed with me. A pack of shots of Swami Yomahmi (who will be on National Geographic's "Is It Real?" tomorrow night), one of Larksong, the Pyrates Royale (thanks to my timing Darcy has Craigguitar face), and a gypsy stealing a child (okay, not really).

Finally found all of the normal costume bits, plus the Half Moon cloak, which was perfect for the drizzle today. Got to see Jenn for the first time this season and Lauren, who was working in Pat Parker's booth while he ran the Scottish Games. Caught Judy on stage at the Globe, and later in the lane, exhorting some young lads to become knights of the realm. Closed the day out with Michael Rosman's wire walking (love the new squirrel jokes) and ran into Steph, Steve and Danielle in time to veer them over to Fight School II (more fun in the rain). I love this place. And now I get to go home and watch football. Does it get better than that?
How to determine when your anti-depressant isn't working...
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayWhen you start wondering about things like the following:

So I'm soaking in the tub, reading the ingredients in my Aveda Damage Remedy (as recommended by Oprah and my former cubemate Yvette), like you do, and I notice the first ingredient is "Aqueous (Water/Aqua/Eau) Extracts." Extracts from water? That would be what? Hydrogen? Oxygen? That cold crisp taste of the Rockies with which Coors is purportedly imbued? It makes you wonder. Or rather, it makes me wonder. It makes me wonder when my freaking Cobra paperwork is going to get here.
Very Dangerous
