Green Turtle Zengo Tue 08.28.07 10:37pm PDT #21708 |
The first pic is of Eleanora and I after lunch at the Green Turtle. She's back in town for a few days this week to close out her projects after several weeks working off site in Arizona where she has relocated. She has been with the company for 10 years and decided in our recent reorganization not to reapply for a job. She's understandably excited about rebooting her life. I have one more person from my prior team to see off this week and then I can mentally declare closure to the workplace circus of the last two years. Amy and I went to dinner tonight at Zengo for my birthday. Pictured are our kobe beef appetizer cooked on hot stone and my teriyaki glazed salmon on peruvian corn. Our management team reviewed our individual Personalysis as a group today with our rep from our Organizational Learning & Performance Group. Personalysis is a personality test that gives you insights on how you approach your work and others, how you would like to approach it and what instincts drive you. Your personal findings are supplied as a "Colorgraph" in a plexiglas frame you're supposed to display in your office. It was particularly interesting to see the gallery page of our entire management team's Colorgraphs. Me in a nutshell: I like to explore and consult on multiple approaches to problems backed up by lots of information. I'm not heavily analytical or process oriented. I don't like being an authority figure or taskmaster. - mike lee - washington, dc |
Kicking The Million-Dollar Car Tue 08.21.07 2:06pm PDT #21676 |
I did an early flight out of Reagan with some co-workers to visit with Dr. Joe Coughlin of the MIT AgeLab. I see Joe in our offices once in a while, but I've never worked out a visit to his place in three years of visits to Cambridge. As part of an overall lab update and tour, we got to kick the tires on the million-dollar Driver Aware Volvo (pictured here outdoors). The instrumentation-filled car has been in the works for two years and they've been using it in tests since late spring. The red VW bug in Joe's lab (which isn't near a loading dock) was smuggled into the lab late one night up an elevator shaft. The meeting got done early, so we made it on a US Air Shuttle two hours ahead of schedule. - mike lee - washington, dc |

At 2 hours 23 minutes, Transformers is 30 minutes too long. The effects are well done--that's about it. Good thing I can surf the web with my mobile devices. - mike lee - silver spring, md |
